Last year's supported artists included dancer and choreographer Katie Milroy, performer Lesley-Ann Hastie, designer Mhairi McDowell, musician Frauke Jurgensen and musician and composer Simon Gall. Simon who received support to develop a new North East influenced music project 'Clype' said of the award,

"The Made in Aberdeen bursary brought this project into existence. I had had an initial seed idea for a while but had no financial resources to develop it so it never grew into anything.

It (the award) enabled me to get the sound I was looking for through enlisting the musical services of the wonderful Jonny Hardie. It also meant that I could take my time in the studio to focus on creating quality music rather taking shortcuts"
