Package Holidays

The marketing, sale and performance of package holidays sold or offered for sale in the UK are governed by legislation. This applies to anyone who organises package travel including profit making/ non-profit making/ business and club organisations. The regulations cover “packages” which are pre-arranged and sold or offered for sale at an all inclusive price.

Packages must also include at least two of the following:

  • Transport
  • Accommodation
  • Tourist Services (which are a significant reason for going on holiday)

Officers enforce and give advice on package travel regulations. It should be noted that regulations cover both civil (contractual) and criminal aspects. In the worst instances of the criminal aspects, a report can be prepared for the consideration of the Procurator Fiscal.
