Aberdeen City Council is pleased to make its latest news stories available via an RSS feed.

What is an RSS Feed?

RSS, which stands for Really Simple Syndication is an XML-based format for distributing content.

The Aberdeen City Council News RSS feed is in RSS 0.91 format. You can use the feed free for personal or non-commercial purposes only.

What can I do with an RSS feed?

You can use a program called a news aggregator or feed reader to gather feeds together into one easy to use page of information. Here is a list of popular readers.

The Hebig blog has a list of web-based aggregators.

Alternatively, you can subscribe to, or create your own, web pages to gather the news feeds together. You can see a good example of this at Feeds.info - Aberdeen News which aggregates news feeds about Aberdeen from various sources.

If you have a blog or personal web pages, you can use the feed to show our news stories on your own page.

We can't offer advice on how to do this, but resources such as Lockergnome or Mnot should offer some assistance.

As we update the new stories on our site the feed is updated automatically, and your feed reader will pick that up and display the newest headlines with links to the full news stories on our site.
