Inspectors impressed by Bramble Brae's performance

HMIE Inspectors have praised Bramble Brae Primary School in Aberdeen following an inspection carried out there in February.
The inspectors visited the school as part of a national sample of primary and nursery education. The inspection covered key aspects of the work of the school at all stages. It evaluated a number of key aspects with particular focus on attainment in English language and mathematics.
Their report, published this week, concluded that the schools strengths lay in a number of areas. It highlights the polite, courteous and well-behaved pupils; the positive climate and the care and welfare of the pupils in the primary school and in nursery; the effective teamwork of the staff and their commitment to the life of the school; and the effective links with a range of agencies to help support pupils learning.
In response to the report the school, working with Aberdeen City Council, will produce an action plan to address the main points for action to ensure improvement in the continuity and progression in pupils learning, in attainment in English language and mathematics, and in the quality of the learners experiences. HMIE will undertake a follow through inspection within two years of the publication of the report.
John Tomlinson, Corporate Director, Neighbourhood Services (North Area) said: I welcome this report which reflects the commitment of the staff to improving the school and the very positive attitude of parents, pupils and staff to the work of the school.
Mr Tomlinson said the report recognised that almost all of the categories relating to the environment for learning were noted to be good or very good. Pupils were encouraged to develop their wider achievements and parents were successfully involved in the life of the school.
He concluded that the children of Bramble Brae School would continue to receive a very high standard of educational opportunity and staff, pupils and parents should be pleased with the progress being made by the school.
Parents and carers will receive a further report from HMIe on the schools progress within two years of the publication of the original report.
