City award for architectural design

The Lord Provost of Aberdeen, Peter Stephen, will present the Civic Medal for Architectural Design to the winner of the city-run architectural competition at 12 noon on Thursday, 22 May, in the St Nicholas Room, Town House, Aberdeen.

Anna Fiejtek, winner of the medal with Lord Provost Peter Stephen and Alastair Methven, Scott Skinner School of Architecture.The annual competition, which is open to all third year architectural students at The Scott Sutherland School of Architecture, is based on a different design subject each year, selected by the college lecturers and judged by the lecturers together with the City Council’s Head of Infrastructure Policy.

This year the design project chosen is Grampian Film Centre – Art House Cinema/Research & Archive Facility.

The Civic Medal Award is, in fact, within the gift of the Lord Provost and was instituted in 1947 by the Corporation of the City of Aberdeen.
