Funding for 12 to 25-year-olds
03/09/08
There is still time for city youth activity groups to apply for cash funding this autumn.
The Youth Activities Small Grant Fund has successfully supported a range of Aberdeen groups over the past two years.
The fund exists to support groups, with members aged between 12 and 25-years-old, with small grants, of up to £1,500, to enable them to take part in various activities that would not normally be available.
Applications are considered by a small funding group made up of some members of the Youth Action Committee (YAC) and local councillors.
Development officer Barbara Cowie said: In the last financial year 55 groups with approximately 4,000 young members were successful in gaining funding.
Projects included a radio stations, music, drama and theatre scheme, various sporting activities and equipment for youth groups.
This groups recommendations are then considered and ratified by a council committee.
The deadline for the next round of funding is October 7, 2008.
