Fun for all the family during Show Scotland 2008 weekend

Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museums is delighted to announce that it will be taking part in Show Scotland 2008, the biggest programme of special events and fun activities arranged by Scottish Museums over the Bank Holiday weekend between Friday, 2 May, and Monday, 5 May.

Art Idol at Aberdeen Art Gallery, Schoolhill, Aberdeen

Come along for a weekend of reality TV-themed fun. Members of the art gallery team have picked some of their favourite pieces from storage and will campaign for your vote to have them put on display. Create your own artwork and have it judged by an expert and have your masterpiece displayed in the art gallery.

There is also the opportunity to join members of the art gallery’s behind-the-scenes team for a tour to find out what makes the gallery tick. All events are admission free.

Puppet Theatre at Aberdeen Maritime Museum, Shiprow, Aberdeen

Discover the world of puppets at Aberdeen Maritime Museum with this hands on family event. There is the opportunity to be a puppet maker for the day or just sit back and let the puppet masters entertain you. Please book in advance for performances. All events are admission free.

Tolbooth Re-enactmentCivil War at The Tolbooth Museum, Castle Street, Aberdeen

Step back in time at The Tolbooth Museum to the Civil War in 1644 and decide how to defend your city against the Marquis of Montrose and his Royalist army who are approaching Aberdeen. Join in the debate by the Town Council as to whether or not they should let Montrose enter Aberdeen or stand and fight. Event will be held throughout Monday. All events are admission free.
