Lord Provost meets Venezuelan delegation to discuss Maracaibo links
31/03/08
Aberdeens Lord Provost has discussed the re-admission of Maracaibo to the World Energy Cities Partnership with the senior managers of the Venezuelan state oil company PdVSA.
During the meeting, the Lord Provost Peter Stephen welcomed Venezuelas return to the partnership and looked forward to hosting representatives of Maracaibo later in the year.
The Lord Provost was delighted that the group chose to visit Aberdeen, demonstrating once again that the city is regarded as a world-class centre of excellence in the offshore oil and gas sectors and in training provision.
The Venezuelan delegation which includes Ricardo Coronado (Corporate Manager, Production), Jesus Figueroa (President, PdVSA Services) and Juan Ignacio Rodriguez, a senior representative of the Venezuelan Petroleum Chamber is in Aberdeen to strengthen business connections with existing partners, such as Sir Ian Wood of the Wood Group, and to forge new links with potential contractors.
City and Shire businesses are invited to meet the delegates tomorrow [Tuesday, [Apr 1] and hear firsthand about the oil market in Maracaibo. The Venezuelan networking evening goes ahead at 7pm at the Hilton Aberdeen Treetops Hotel, 161 Springfield Road, Aberdeen.
