02/05/08

Aberdeen City and Shire’s regional identity team will be highlighting the benefits for companies choosing to relocate to the region, and in particular the quality of the Aberdeen City and Shire lifestyle, at this year’s Offshore Technology Conference in Houston, USA.

Previews of the new DVD which has been produced to promote the region will be shown in hotel rooms in Houston and on the Aberdeen City and Shire stand.

It will also be shown at the World Energy Cities Partnership (WECP) meeting held during OTC. The regional identity team want to attract all partner countries to come to the WECP AGM which will be held in Aberdeen in November  - the first time the city has hosted the event since the early 1990s.

“Aberdeen City and Shire has a fantastic  offering  and we particularly  hope to encourage business missions to come to the area to see for themselves that  it’s not only a great place to do business but also a fabulous place to live,” said Louise Scott , head of corporate communications at Aberdeen City Council.

“Promoting the region in a cohesive and consistent way means that Aberdeen City and Shire can radiate a strong image which emphasises our assets. For example, promoting the high quality lifestyle enjoyed within the region will help attract new employees. It is therefore crucial to continue to build the region’s profile as a vibrant, forward-thinking place to live and do business.”

The WECP encourages business development and the exchange of knowledge between cities whose primary market sectors are energy and environment-related technologies.  Fourteen energy cities throughout the world are members of the group.

The new DVD will be available for use to all companies seeking to attract staff to the region.

The web-portal  – www.aberdeencityandshire.com -  also provides an entry point and links to sites which bring together all the information anyone living, working, studying, visiting or doing business in Aberdeen City and Shire could need.
