Eager swimmers get chance to book lessons
01/08/08
Aberdeen City Council and Aberdeenshire Council are joining forces to get young children swimming.
Parents of children currently on the city and shire waiting lists for swimming lessons will be invited to a Learn to Swim allocation session on Monday, 11 August at Aberdeens Beach Leisure Centre between 1011.30am and 67.30 pm.
Children will be allocated a place on the next suitable block of lessons, taking place from 19 August 19 December in swimming pools throughout Aberdeen.
The sessions are designed to allocate lessons at a suitable venue and to allow parents to discuss their childs individual needs. Parents will be offered an alternative class at another venue should a space not be available at the first choice. Advance payment for classes will be taken to secure the place.
The classes range from tadpoles for ages 315 months to otters for ages 3½5 years.
The Aqua Learn to Swim programme is also on offer to children of school age at various levels, ranging from beginners to advanced improvers. Adult classes for those over the age of 16 years are also offered.
The Aqua Learn to Swim programme classes take place MonFri, 3.455.30pm and on Saturday mornings. Hazlewood offers classes until 7pm and Dyce Primary after 6pm on specific evenings and on Sunday mornings.
Aqua skills, mini polo, junior water polo and diving are also on offer through the aquatic activities.
