International street market returns to Aberdeen

24/07/08

Dozens of stallholders offering a wide range of goods from across Continental Europe will be returning to the Granite City tomorrow [Friday, 25 July], for the summer Aberdeen International Street Market.

More than 70 stallholders will be taking part in the 18th International Street Market, which is expected to draw more than 140,000 people into the heart of Aberdeen.

Union Terrace will play host to the three day event, organised by Paris-based Groupe Géraud — Europe’s largest street market operator — on behalf of Aberdeen City Council.

Road closures and diversions will be in place during the market.

Union Terrace, including the slip road between Rosemount Viaduct and Union Terrace, will be completely closed to traffic. Diamond Place will also be closed.

The right hand turn ban from Skene Street into Rosemount Viaduct will be suspended for buses only.

The diversion route will be via Union Street, Broad Street, Upperkirkgate, Schoolhill, and Rosemount Viaduct.

The closures and diversions are being put in place in the interests of public safety and convenience, between 5am tomorrow and 10pm on Sunday, 27 July.

The next dates for the market to visit are 26/27/28 September, followed by the Christmas event on 28/29/30 November, which coincides with the St Andrews Day celebrations.
