New self-service council tax and benefits facility launched

01/09/08

A new self-service facility has been launched for all Aberdeen residents who have council tax, council tax benefit, or housing benefit accounts with the city council.

The facility will provide secure, round-the-clock access to details held on individual accounts. These facilities will be available through the council website, at www.aberdeencity.gov.uk/counciltax

Services available to all:

Council tax band search
Citizens will be able to search for and view the council tax band for any property within the Aberdeen City area.

Direct debit over the web
Citizens will be able to set up direct debits for payment of council tax by simply submitting their bank details and their preferred payment date via a secure connection. Those who already pay their council tax by direct debit will be able to make changes to their details.

This includes changing bank account details and the direct debit collection date - Aberdeen City Council currently collects direct debits on the 5th,15th,20th or 28th of the month.

Services available to registered users only:
Citizens must register to obtain access to any confidential information. You can register by visiting the website at www.aberdeencity.gov.uk/counciltax; be emailing counciltax@aberdeencity.gov.uk; by calling the customer contact team on 08456 080921, or in person at any of the following offices: Crown House, 27-29 Crown Street; St Nicholas House (Upperkirkgate entrance); Tillydrone Office, Formartine Road; Mastrick Access Point, Spey Road; The Point;
