Still time to book a place on fascinating festive tours

There is still a number of places available on Aberdeen Art Gallery and Museums festive tours at The Tolbooth, Provost Skene's House and Glover House.
The trails which are part of Aberdeens Winter Festival programme provide an interesting and fun way to learn about Aberdeen and its famous and infamous residents and traditions of a bygone time. Each tour will round off with a chance to sample some seasonal refreshments.
Advance booking is essential so telephone (01224) 523700 to avoid disappointment.
Sunday 7 and 14 December
The Tolbooth Winter's Trails
Explore the fascinating history of The Tolbooth, with a chance to meet some of its more colourful characters, including the 17th century Tolbooth gaoler and one of his disobedient wards. The tour winds up at La Lombarda where refreshments will be served.
4pm and 6pm each day.

Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 December
Provost Skenes House Candlelight Tours
Come along and enjoy an atmospheric candlelight tour of the period property, which will be decorated with festive greenery and a traditional Christmas tree. Explore the period rooms and history of the house and discover Christmas customs of the past.
6.15- 7pm and 7.15-8pm each day

Wednesday 17 December
Glover House Tours
Step back in time to meet members of the Glover family and learn about the exploits and career of Thomas Blake Glover, one of Aberdeen's most famous sons, who made his fortune in Japan. He is also sometimes said to be the originator of the story of the opera Madame Butterfly by Puccini, and is greatly revered in Japan while he remains relatively unknown in his native country.
6pm and 7.30pm.
