Aberdeen youngsters set to go through their paces at Big Run 2008

Children from across Aberdeen are being invited to take part in the Big Run at Hazlehead Park later this month.
The Big Run, on Saturday, 17 May, will be held as a series of small runs for youngsters in Primary 5 to S2. Primary pupils will be challenged to run 1600m round the games field, while secondary pupils will go a stage further and run 2400m.
All runners will receive a race number prior to the event. As they cross the finish line they will be rewarded with a medal and free fruit and water.
Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third boy and girl in each age group. Team trophies will also be awarded to the first school teams in each age group.
S1 boys and girls will run at 10am, followed by S2 boys and girls at 10.30am, P5 boys and girls at 11am, P6 boys and girls at 11am; and P7 boys and girls at 12 noon.

Mark Pain, Active Schools Co-ordinator, said: The Big Run is sure to be a fun day out for everyone and all runners will receive a medal so theyre all winners.
The Big Run is being funded and supported by Oil and Gas UK, The Running Shop and Sangs.
