Statement on behalf of Aberdeen City Council's new Chief Executive Sue Bruce

01/12/08

Mrs Bruce said: “This move is an exciting opportunity for me and I am delighted to be taking up the role of Chief Executive at Aberdeen City Council. Since my appointment earlier this year, I have been keeping up-to-date on what has been happening in the city and I am eager to get started.

“My initial priorities will be to meet colleagues in the city, ensure the savings required in 2008/9 are delivered and that a realistic budget is set for 2009/10.  We must also drive forward change whilst retaining the capacity to deliver high quality services to the people of Aberdeen.

“I look forward to working with council officers, elected members and our partners across the region to ensure the continued prosperity of the city.”

Leader of Aberdeen City Council Kate Dean said: “I am delighted to welcome Sue to the post of chief executive of the City Council and look forward to working with her and continuing the good work which has been done in recent months.”
