Join countryside rangers for tree-planting in the woods

25/11/08

Aberdeen’s countryside rangers are inviting people to join them for a day of tree planting at Carnie Woods this Saturday [29 November].

Ranger Simon Whitworth said: “Following the tree thinning work last year we need to plant Scottish trees to enhance the woods for wildlife and people. While we work, I hope that volunteers will see one of the many red squirrels which live in the wood.”

All tools and hot drinks will be provided for the day, which runs from 10am – 3pm. No experience is necessary. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Meet at Carnie Woods, west of Elrick, at the Mackie Steps car park off the B979. Alternatively, people can catch the number 215 or X15 buses from Union Street to Straik Place in Elrick, and from there walk the short distance down Peregrine Road to the entrance on that side of the wood. A ranger will be there to meet people and take them to the site of the event.
