Views sought on site for new recycling centre

Bridge of Don residents are being encouraged to take part in a community consultation about potential sites for a new household waste recycling centre.
Aberdeen City Council is asking residents to help identify the criteria they would like to be used to evaluate the suitability of potential sites for the new recycling centre, which will replace the existing one at Perwinnes Moss.
That site is not big enough and following the introduction of WEEE (waste electrical and electronic equipment recycling) there is no space left to expand it.
The council is actively seeking the views of residents to ensure the communitys requirements are taken into account in the selection of any potential new locations.
Councillor Kevin Stewart said: We are committed to consulting the residents of Aberdeen on important issues. I would encourage all residents in the Bridge of Don area to make their views known by taking part in the consultation process.
Finding a suitable site may take some time, but with the help of the residents and some comprehensive work on the part of the council it should meet the communitys needs.
Residents can find out more about the consultation by visiting www.communityplanningaberdeen.org.uk and clicking on the Consultations tab. Responses to the consultation can be made via Bridge of Don Community Council, or by writing to Clare Neely, Waste Minimisation Officer, Aberdeen City Council, 4th Floor, Balgownie 1, AECC, Aberdeen, AB23 8AQ.
The consultation will close on 30 January 2009.
