Animal Boarding Establishments
Details
Animal Boarding Establishments are subject to the licensing requirements set down in the Animal Boarding Establishments Act 1963 and are required to apply to the service for a licence.Licences are valid for one year whereupon the licensee must apply for renewal of the licence. Licences expire on 31 December of each year.
Prior to the grant or renewal of a licence an Officer inspects the premises. The purpose of that inspection is to ensure:
- the suitability of the accommodation
- that animals will be provided with suitable food, water and bedding etc
- the adequacy of disease control measures
- the adequacy of record keeping
Licences are granted subject to conditions based on the Guidance and Model Conditions issued by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (1995).
