Introduction

Aberdeen City Council Sports Person of the Year Winners 2008

Aberdeen City Council in partnership with Aberdeen Sports Council, Chris Anderson Trust, Aberdeen University, Robert Gordon's University and Active Schools Aberdeen are pleased to be able to showcase the best talent in the North East. Many of whom are linked to the Grampian Institute of Sport and Scottish Institute of Sport.

The awards evening is held in April at the Beach Ballroom and celebrates sporting achievement from the previous year, January - December.

Aberdeen City Council present awards for Sports Person of the Year (1st, 2nd, 3rd) and the Lord Provosts volunteer of the year category.

Nominees for both awards must be over 18, resident in Aberdeen or member of Aberdeen based club, committed to being involved in sport for the next year, involved in a sport recognised by sportscotland. In the case of the volunteer award they must have given unpaid service to sport. In the case of the Sports Person award shown improvement in performance and competed regularly at a national or international level.
