24 Hour Enquiry Services

Staff in Information Services within Aberdeen City Libraries participate in two 24 hour enquiry services. "Ask Scotland" is a recently launched pilot involving several of Scotland's Library Services whilst "Enquire" is an established UK wide and international service.

  • One of the PCs. is connected to an AverMedia Magnifier which enables documents to be enlarged onscreen. Another has OmniPage Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software installed.

Selections of the Month: Chosen for your viewing by Information Services Staff 

Members of the Local Studies Team will be selecting their personal choices of "Photographof the Month"and "Advertisement of the Month". Their current selections can be viewed at Selections of the Month - March

Information Service staff will select a "Book of the Month". This may be from amongst our rare or older books or our newest additions. Also featured will be one of our online databases, some of which can be accessed remotely by members holding a valid library card. View out latest selections at Selections of the Month


Exhibitions

Throughout the year we mount a number of varied exhibitions within Information Services. Some mark annual events such as Adult Learners Week or Local History Week, others may be of topical interest and some will be on subjects selected by staff to showcase our varied holdings. Catalogue

All Information Service books and pamphlets added to stock after 1993 can be found on the Talis on-line catalogue. Go to: Library Catalogue

Selected items from before 1993 have been added to the Talis on-line catalogue. However, please ask staff to check for Items likely to have been acquired prior to 1993.

Public Announcements

Obtaining material from the Reserve Stock areas in the Central Library

With effect from 3 December 2007, staff will no longer retrieve items from our Reserve Stock areas during periods of reduced staffing.

This decision has been made following Health and Safety guidelines and will apply in particular between 12 – 2pm, especially on Friday and Saturday and during evening opening hours from 5.30 – 8pm. We regret any inconvenience this may cause and would appreciate your co-operation in requesting material in advance of your visit.
