Bookstart
Bookstart is the national programme to encourage all parents and carers to enjoy books with children from as early an age as possible. This is achieved by giving the gift of free books to children at around 3 -6 months, 18 months and 3 years, with accompanying guidance materials for parents and carers. Studies have shown that children really benefit from Bookstart and gain a head start with their language and literacy skills. If you have missed out on your Bookstart pack ask your health visitor or local library for details or visit the Bookstart website .
