The Scottish Centre on European Relations

SCER The Scottish Centre on European Relations is a new independent and unaligned EU think tank, based in Edinburgh. It aims to inform, debate, and provide up-to-the-minute, high-quality research and analysis of European Union developments and challenges. It will focus on pan-EU issues as well as having a particular focus on Scotland's EU interests and policies.EU60

 

Celebrating Europe

On the 25 March 2017 the European Union celebrated its 60th anniversary. Over those 60 years there has been a lot to be proud of not least the fact that it has ushered in the longest period of peace in Europe in written history. European Solidarity Corps

Volunteer

 

The European Solidarity Corps is a brand new EU initiative. It creates opportunities for young people to volunteer or work in projects in their own country or abroad that benefit communities and people around Europe. The projects will cover a wide range of issues, such as helping to prevent natural disasters or rebuild afterwards, assisting in centres for asylum seekers, or addressing different social issues in communities. They will last from two to twelve months and will normally be located somewhere inside the EU. Anyone over 17 can register online although the participation is open only for 18-30 year olds. Statistics 4 Beginnerscomputer stats

 

At first glance, statistics might be difficult to understand. Eurostat have created Statistics 4 Beginners to make the world of statistics a bit easier both for pupils and students as well as for all those with an interest in statistics.

Statistics can answer questions posed at different occasions in everyday life: Is society heading in the direction promised by politicians? Is unemployment up or down? Are there more CO2emissions compared with ten years ago? How many women have a job? How is my country's economy performing compared to other EU Member States? Statistics 4 Beginners has two workbooks currently to help you understand and use statistics.
