Access to Information Home Page
There are a number of different regulations which cover access to information. Your rights under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) 2002, the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004 are described below.
Information can be accessed using these different regulations, which all work together to provide you access to information held by us.
Any request for information held by Aberdeen City Council is technically a Freedom of Information (FOI) request in the first instance.
However if part or all of the information requested is personal information, and you are the subject of the request, then this is handled under the Data Protection Act 1998.
In addition certain types of information are dealt with under the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004. Aberdeen City Council aims to provide you with as much information as possible, when dealing with your request. For further information on the different regulations click on the links on the right.
