Aberdeen City Council chief executive Sue Bruce has become the first public sector leader to receive the Prince's Ambassador in Scotland Award.
The award is presented each year to an individual whose leadership and commitment to responsible business has resulted in changes and improvements inside their own organisation and who has also inspired other organisations to take action.
Prince Charles presented the award to Sue at the Scottish Business in the Community Awards ceremony in Edinburgh.
Sue has made significant organisational changes to the council structure since taking up the post in December 2008, streamlining the authority, working to improve service delivery and forging strong partnerships with many stakeholders in the city and beyond.
She said: "This is a tremendous honour for me and for Aberdeen City Council and I am greatly looking forward to my year as the Prince's Ambassador in Scotland and the opportunity it offers to work closely not only with the Prince's Charities but also with businesses throughout Scotland.
"It is a particular honour to be the first person working in the public sector to receive the accolade and I am very pleased that the contribution that the public sector has to offer in working in partnership with business has been recognised in this way.
"During the course of my year as Ambassador I hope to build on the work of my illustrious predecessors and I intend to concentrate on promoting the considerable benefits there are to be gained through establishing and developing dynamic opportunities for the private and public sectors to work together to deliver jointly on their corporate social responsibilities."
Council leader John Stewart said: "This demonstrates how highly regarded Sue is across the country. The city council is fortunate to have her as chief executive and I am looking forward to seeing her continue to serve the council well in the future."
