Aberdeen Art Gallery and museums launches youth art forum
Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museums is looking for enthusiastic young people to join its new Youth Forum.
This is a fantastic way for those aged 14-24 years to be involved in shaping the Art Gallery's young people's programme. Forum members will work alongside staff and artists to organise events, lead exhibition tours and produce interpretation resources.
Members will take part in artist-led workshops, meet professionals working in the creative industries and have fun, while getting to know the collections held by Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museums.
In a competitive education and job market, opportunities for young people to develop skills and gain relevant experiences are incredibly valuable. Being part of the Youth Forum will offer those involved the chance to meet other like-minded young people, to develop their CV's and to increase their knowledge, skills and confidence in an informal and supportive environment.
Youth Forum co-ordinator, informal learning officer Anna Shortland, Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museums, said: "We're looking to recruit young people from all backgrounds and with a range of interests and skills. An interest in art and culture is important, but you don't have to be studying art in school or college to take part. You just need to be committed, enthusiastic and willing to get involved.
"This is a brilliant opportunity for 14-24 year olds to play a key role in supporting us to open up the Art Gallery and its collections to other young people in exciting and interactive ways."
To find out more please visit www.aagm.co.uk to download an information sheet and short application form. Applications for the current round of Youth Forum membership recruitment close on Friday 24 January 2014.
Young people aged 14-24 years can also sign-up to the new Youth Network mailing list. This is the best way to be kept informed of all upcoming events, workshops and opportunities for young people.
