Young authorís mythical story turned into book
A story about a magical, mythical unicorn written by an 11-year-old pupil at Aberdeen's Kittybrewster School has been turned into a book.
The Unicorn Legacy by Jasmin Duncan tells the story of one young girl's encounter with a unicorn and the adventure that ensues.
Jasmine has dedicated her book to her parents Carol and Craig Duncan, all the staff at Kittybrewster School especially headteacher Ian Macindoe. Jasmin also gives a special mention to author Nicola Ormerod, whom became her mentor after she held some creative writing workshops at the school last year.
Ian Macindoe, headteacher at Kittybrewter School said: "Jasmin has been with us since nursery and even then we knew she was a very talented little girl. As Jasmin has progressed through the school her writing has shown signs of ability way beyond her years.
"Everyone at the school is very proud of Jasmin's success and we can't wait to read the sequel which Jasmin has hinted she has already started."
The Unicorn Legacy is published by Karabeth and is available to purchase from online retailer Amazon.
This is not the first time writing has been acknowledged at Kittybrewster School an EAL pupil won a national writing competition in 2009.
