Take time out for talk on tea
13/10/09
A free talk on the history of tea will take place at 12.30pm on Wednesday, 21 October in the beautifully decorated Regency Parlour at Provost Skene's House, Guest Row, off Broad Street, Aberdeen.
The parlour is where during the 19th century the family of the house would have enjoyed afternoon tea.
Assistant Keeper (Applied Art) Victoria Ward will give a brief history of tea, which was first sold in Britain in 1657 by the Dutch run East India Company and was originally an expensive luxury item.
A number of objects from the Applied Art collection will be on display for the duration of the talk including an 18th century silver teapot and British and European porcelain tea wares.
Booking is essential by telephoning (01224) 641086.
