Pilot shuttle bus service launched between airport and Dyce Railway Station

An eagerly-awaited shuttle bus service between Dyce Railway Station and Aberdeen Airport has been launched.

The pilot service, launched by Nestrans, Aberdeen City Council and First Aberdeen, will link the station and the airport, via Kirkhill Industrial Estate.

Nestrans chairman, deputy city council leader Kevin Stewart said: "I am delighted that this service is finally going to be up and running. A lot of folk have worked very hard to get to this stage.

"I would hope that rail passengers who use this service and that we will also be supported by the local business community and Aberdeen Airport."

The Airlink (service 80) bus service will run from 6.45am until 7.38pm, Monday to Friday.

The two bus operation, funded by Nestrans, is tailored to the new ScotRail timetable, which will see improved rail services within Aberdeen City and Shire.

The bus starts at Dyce Railway Station then travels along Station Road, Victoria Street, Farburn Terrace, Wellheads Drive, Dyce Drive, onto Argyll Road and directly to the airport.

From the airport the bus turns onto Forties Road and travels along Kirkhill Road, Dyce Drive, Howe Moss Avenue, past Aker Kvaerner, south down Howe Moss Avenue, onto Howe Moss Crescent, Howe Moss Drive, Howe Moss Road, Dyce Drive, Wellheads Drive, Farburn Terrace, Victoria Street, Station Road, and back to the Station.

Introductory fares are £1 for a single journey, £2 return and £10 for a weekly ticket.

Employees at Kirkhill and airport users who live in Stonehaven, Portlethen, Inverurie and beyond will find that using the train and the Airlink bus can cut 10-20 minutes off their journey time compared with the car.

Dyce residents now have a direct bus link to Kirkhill, so there is no longer a need for them to drive to work.
