Pedal for Scotland rides into Aberdeen for the first time
Scotland's biggest bike ride, Pedal for Scotland, arrives in Aberdeen for the first time this weekend.The event, aimed at cyclists of all ages and abilities, takes place on the beachfront on Sunday [15 September] and will see cyclists undertake a four-mile ride along the Esplanade, with an events village placed in the middle of the route.
A range of activities, including a cycle stunt show, mountain bike skills track and a bike roadshow with bikes of all shapes and sizes to try out. is also on offer. Entry is free.
The Beach Esplanade will be closed from King Street (at the Shell Garage) to a point 10 metres north of the Beach Leisure Centre car park access from 6am until 5pm on Sunday. No parking will be allowed on the road during that time.
An alternative route will be available via Beach Boulevard, Justice Port roundabout, East North Street, West North Street, Mounthooly Roundabout, Mounthooly Way, and King Street; or via King Street, East North Street, Justice Port Roundabout and Beach Boulevard.
