Mugiemoss development earmarked for approval

08/04/10

Plans for a new residential development in Mugiemoss have been recommended for approval.

The development, of 53 flats and 38 town houses, is planned for the former Grampian Country Foods site off Mugiemoss Road.

Head of planning and sustainable development Dr Margaret Bochel states in the report about the application: "There would be a good range of two and three bedroom houses and one and two bedroom flats, some of which would be affordable, all in compliance with relevant development plan policies,

"The town houses are arranged around a central landscaped area that provides a generous area of amenity space for communal use including an equipped children's play area.

"The residential development proposed fits in well with the longer term evolution of the area… and could act as a catalyst for the future regeneration of the area.

"A high-quality residential environment would be created with the required proportion of affordable housing."

The Development Management Sub-committee will consider the application on 15 April.
