Senior curator to give lunchtime talk on world-renowned artist SJ Peploe
A free talk that offers a fascinating insight into the life of the world-renowned Scottish artist SJ Peploe will be held at 12.30pm on Wednesday 04 September at Aberdeen Art Gallery, Schoolhill.
The talk will be given by Alice Strang, senior curator, at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, who is also the curator of Aberdeen Art Gallery's major summer exhibition The Scottish Colourist Series: SJ Peploe.
Deirdre Grant, head of public programme at Aberdeen Art Gallery said: "There has been a great public response to this exhibition so we are particularly pleased to welcome Alice back to the city. We worked with her to bring the exhibition to Aberdeen and are delighted she is able to return to talk about Peploe."
This important exhibition brings together a selection of 70 of Peploe's most significant paintings from public and private collections plus original objects used in Peploe's still life arrangements from the Peploe retrospective recently held at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art.
Aberdeen Art Gallery has a substantial collection of paintings by SJ Peploe, eight of which are included in the exhibition.
The exhibition is organised by the National Galleries of Scotland, Edinburgh and is on display at Aberdeen Art Gallery, Schoolhill until Saturday 19 October 2013.
It is accompanied by a lavishly illustrated catalogue based on new research and a series of special events for all ages will take place during its three-month showing in the city.
