Statement by Aberdeen City Licensing Board
22/10/09
On Sunday 25 October 2009 at 2am British Summer Time (BST) will end and the clocks will go back to 1am.
The Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 introduces legislation to control the changeover from BST to GMT across Scotland. As a result the beginning or ending of BST will be disregarded as far as closing times for licensed premises are concerned.
Premises will close at what would have been 3am. There is no additional hour of trading as previously under the Licensing (Scotland) Act 1976.
This means that the 2am curfew will operate as usual regardless of the fact that the time has actually gone back to 1am.
Premises which normally close at 3am will close at 2am [what would have been 3am].
This change will not affect the total number of hours of trading.
