Union Terrace Gardens statement by council leaders

Aberdeen City Council leader John Stewart and depute leader Kevin Stewart have issued the following joint statement regarding ACSEF's Union Terrace Gardens consultation:
"As the consultation on the potential development of Union Terrace Gardens comes to a close we encourage everyone to have their say - whatever they believe is the best way forward. The council has as yet had no discussion on the matter and no decision has been taken on it. We will be asking for a report to be brought forward by officers as soon as the results of the public consultation are known.
"However, we emphasise that there are no proposals for the council to commit expenditure to the development. Were it to proceed, we are of the view that there is both a role and an opportunity for the Scottish Government and private enterprise to fulfil in putting in place the necessary funding to ensure its delivery."
