Councils launch International Trade Survey 2012
North-east companies with overseas business links are invited to take part in the Aberdeen City and Shire International Trade Survey.
Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire councils carry out the survey each year to gain an understanding of the level of international trade companies are engaged in and their future intentions.
The survey also allows the councils to gather other key metrics which identify trends in business activity, such as the main export markets and the value of overseas business.
The International Trade Survey, aimed at all firms with an exportable product or service, takes in a cross-section of businesses in a number of sectors including: energy; tourism; life sciences; ICT; and food and drink.
The data collated serves as a valuable source of intelligence and is the basis for Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire councils' trade development activities which focuses on internationalising the local economy. The information gathered from businesses is vital to help shape this support and to ensure that the international trade needs of local companies are identified and addressed.
Aberdeen City Council's Economic and Business Development Project Director Gerry Brough commented: "I would strongly encourage companies to take a few minutes to complete this survey, as their responses will directly influence the Council's trade development priorities and the activities that we deliver to help Aberdeen companies grow their exports in key target markets."
Aberdeenshire Council's Head of Economic Development Belinda Miller commented: "The region has a first-class track record in exporting, whether in the subsea technology or food and drink sectors, and we know that the route to further growth for local companies lies in a continued focus on export. The Survey helps us identify how best to support that growth."
