Award winning street market to add international flavour to Celebrate Aberdeen
The award winning international street market will return to Union Terrace this weekend, adding an international flavour to the city's Celebrate Aberdeen festival.
The popular three-day market, which offers a huge selection of goods from around the world, will be open from 9am until 6pm on Friday 29 August, Saturday 30 August and Sunday 31 August.
On average the market attracts 120,000 visitors and shoppers but even more people are expected to visit the market as people come in to the city centre to enjoy the Celebrate Aberdeen festival, which will take place in and around Union Terrace Gardens.
Fresh foods, fruit and vegetables, plants, herbs and spices, crafts, clothing, gifts and jewellery from around the UK,Europe and Asia, spread over 350 metres of stalls will be on sale at the market.
City centre manager Tom Moore said: "The international market is a firm favourite with the tens of thousands of people expected to visit it over the course of the weekend. With Celebrate Aberdeen also taking place, we expect the Schoolhill and Rosemount areas to be exceptionally busy with lots of people enjoying all that the market and Celebrate Aberdeen has to offer."
The market is managed by Dutchman Guy Nyhuis from Paris-based operators Geraud. He said: "The traders always enjoy coming to Aberdeen as it is one of their favourite locations in Europe. We are absolutely delighted to be part of the city's cultural festival Celebrate Aberdeen."
The three-day market will return to Aberdeen on Friday 31 October 2014.
