Head to Hazlehead for highland games

The entrance fees for Aberdeen's Highland Games later this month [Sunday, 21 June] have remained the same as last year to ensure families enjoy a fantastic day out at an affordable price.
This popular and traditional Highland Games which have been held for over 35 years takes place from 10am until 6pm at Hazlehead Park one of the city's most beautiful venues.
The event offers a traditional programme including Scottish tug-o-war championships, heavy and light events, track and field events, dancing, pipe bands and solo piping competitions.
Family entertainment on offer includes balloon modelling workshops, bungie trampolines, British Army activities, Eco City family challenge, Techfest marquee, treasure hunt and climbing walls.
Team MAD a BMX stunt display team will give youngsters the chance to learn some basic tricks. Things to see include a display by K9 Ecosse working dogs, a Norwegian male choir, Big Rory and his dog Ochie and some giant seagulls.
Visitors can step back in time when they visit Wallace 700 and Medieval Realm in a medieval village.
In the year of Homecoming Scotland visitors to the games will get the opportunity to have their photo taken in the homecoming photo booth before making their own badge to display their homecoming photo.
There will be stalls selling food, gifts, arts & crafts and clothing. Traditional Scottish fayre such as stovies and Arbroath smokies will be on offer along with an Italian coffee bar, doughnut stall, beer tent and ice cream vendors.
Lord Provost of Aberdeen Peter Stephen said: "The Highland Games is a great day out for all the family. Whether it's enjoying the traditional Scottish events, the treasure hunt, the balloon modelling or the bungie trampolines, visitors to the Games will have a wonderful time."

"With such a huge selection of things to do and see at this year's games it's going to be a brilliant day for all the family to enjoy."

Family (up to 2 adults and 3 children) £12
No advance tickets available. Pay on the day.
