Free tickets on offer to watch cup final on the big screen
Free tickets to watch the Scottish Communities League Cup Final on the big screen will be up for grabs from noon on Tuesday, 11 March at the Belmont Cinema, Belmont Street, Aberdeen.
There are 260 tickets available, on a first-come-first-served basis (maximum of four tickets per person), with proof of an Aberdeen address and that at least one of the tickets is for a person under 16 years of age.
Aberdeen City Council's Finance, Policy & Resources Committee convener Councillor Willie Young said: "By working in partnership with the Belmont Cinema we are delighted to be able to offer young people an additional way to enjoy the Dons in the Scottish Cup Final.
"As we get closer to the big day and the excitement builds, we hope that by offering this opportunity our young people will not only savour the thrill of supporting the Dons but that it will encourage them to be more active too."
Aberdeen City Council agreed that up to £50,000 be allocated from the Common Good Fund towards the costs associated with ensuring that as many children and young people as possible from the city are able to see the Scottish Communities League Cup Final at Celtic Park, Glasgow on Sunday, 16 March.
Applications were sought from local young people's groups and organisations in Aberdeen for funding to cover the costs of tickets to support the Dons at the cup final.
Youth groups and organisations can apply for free tickets by completing an application form from www.aberdeencity.gov.uk/sportsgrants which must be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday 10 March 2014.Successful applicants will be issued tickets direct from Aberdeen City Council.
