Festive fun event cancelled due to bad weather

The winter wonderland event due to take place from 4pm to 7pm tonight [Fri 06 Dec] in Aberdeen's Union Terrace Gardens has been cancelled.

The latest weather forecast for this evening has led to the cancellation on the grounds of public safety.

Weather-permitting Santa's grotto will open from 10am until 5pm tomorrow [Sat 07 Dec] in the gardens.

It's no ordinary grotto as instead of Santa giving children presents they will have the opportunity to make their own gifts thanks to free arts and crafts activities being held in the park. The children will then be able to show what they have created when they visit Santa in his grotto.

Santa's grotto will be open until Sunday 15 December at the following times:

/Monday – Friday 4pm-7pm [except Fri 06 Dec]

Saturday & Sunday 10am-5pm

The grotto will be closed between 12.30pm and 1.30pm so Santa can go for lunch and feed his reindeers.

At various times while Santa's grotto is open local community groups will perform festive songs and Christmas Carols on a special festive stage for visitors to the park to enjoy.

Members of the public are reminded to dress appropriately for the weather conditions.
