Doors Open Day children’s competition winners announced
Following this year's extremely successful Doors Open Day on Saturday 8 September the local organising committee is pleased to announce the results of its children's competition.
Doors Open Day is an annual event which sees the doors of buildings of special architectural merit thrown open to the public so they can enjoy access to buildings that are normally off limits.
This year's competition asked young people to study the interior of participating buildings and then draw aspects of the buildings that caught their imaginations. Children made use of a record sheet which focussed attention on key interior details.
The Doors Open Day Committee was presented with the difficult task of choosing five children whom it felt produced work worthy of special mention. The prize winners are:
- Max Greenhalgh, Robert Gordon's College, Aberdeen
- Rana Bedawi, Bishopmill School, Elgin
- Jessica Mennie, Greenbrae School, Aberdeen
- Imogen McCall, Ferryhill School, Aberdeen
- Josephine Hartley, St. Geraldine School, Lossiemouth
Chairman of the local committee Gordon Smith said: 'It was great to see so many children taking part this year and the task of choosing winners was not an easy one as there were so many high quality entries with drawings of buildings varying from the Town House to the new University Library."
