Gypsy/Travellers expected to vacate Calder Park
A group of Gypsy/Travellers who were temporarily staying at Calder Park over the festive period are expected to vacate the site in the coming weeks.
The temporary occupation was due to the health concerns of a member of the group and to give them time to look for an alternative site.
The group has been fully informed of the arrangements and they are aware that they have until February 25 to vacate the site.
Aberdeen City Council's Gypsy/Traveller liaison officer will continue to liaise with the group in the meantime.
Councillor Neil Cooney, convener of the Housing and Environment committee, said: "All parties were aware this was a temporary measure, including the Gypsy/Travellers themselves.
"They indicated that they hoped to stay in Aberdeen over the Christmas period as a member of their group was heavily pregnant.
"Our officers have been working very closely with the group during this time and will continue to do so as they look towards an alternative arrangement."
