Blue Badge free application reminder

Residents are being reminded they can apply for their Blue Badge for free from Aberdeen City Council's website.

The move follows on from officers becoming aware of some people using a third party website which charges approximately 50 for the application.

While these third party websites may be legal, it is stressed applicants do not have to use them.

Aberdeen City Council Communities, Housing and Infrastructure convener Councillor Neil Cooney said: "The ACC Blue Badge application process is easy to use and is free.

"Residents should not have to pay money to apply for their Blue Badges. Many of the applicants will be more vulnerable so they should be made aware they do not have to pay this extra 50.

"We would ask people to check with any relatives or neighbours to ensure they are aware the application process is free."

Aberdeen City Council does charge 20 to issue a badge but this money is requested only upon approval, and payment should not be sent with a resident's application.

Residents can apply for Blue Badges from the official website, or in person from Marischal College Customer Service Centre, Kincorth Customer Access Point, Mastrick Access Point, or Woodside Access Point.
