Aberdeenís archives subject of lunchtime talk
Limited places are still available for a free illustrated talk which will highlight several of the treasures held by Aberdeen City Archives.
Aberdeen's Written Record: Highlights from Aberdeen's Archives will be given by Phil Astley, city archivist at 12.30pm on Wednesday 16 July at the Tolbooth Museum, Castle Street.
The talk coincides with The Best in Scotland exhibition, which celebrates the richness of Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire's archives.
Aberdeen's archives are amongst the most complete and best preserved archives in Scotland. They cover the 12th to the 21st century in astonishing detail.
This talk will also look at recent activities which are helping to bring the records to a wider audience.
Phil Astley said: "It is a great pleasure to be able to give this talk in the Tolbooth, in fact in the very room where the archives were stored for so many centuries. People are fascinated by their history and the archives are central to this."
Places for the talk are free but numbers are limited and booking is absolutely essential by calling the Tolbooth Museum on (01224) 621167.
