City council appoints new Corporate Governance director
Aberdeen City Council has selected Angela Scott as preferred candidate for the position of Director of Corporate Governance.
Mrs Scott has been Head of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales for the last two years, having been promoted through various roles within the organisation since 1999.
Since 2008, she has also been a Non-Executive Director with NHS Tayside, holding the position of vice-chair of the board as well as chairing a number of board committees which have contributed to improvement and quality in the delivery of NHS Services.
Mrs Scott said: "I am very proud to have been offered the chance to join Aberdeen City Council, which has won plaudits in recent years for steering a steady course in difficult financial conditions. I am looking forward to bringing my own experience to the Corporate Governance directorate, which delivers so many key services to Aberdeen's citizens."
Finance, Policy and Resources Committee convener Councillor Willie Young said: "Angela will bring to the City Council a wealth of commercial and financial expertise, along with extensive experience of managing performance and leading change. Her appointment will give us a very strong corporate management team, which will work with this Administration to drive the city forward."
The appointment remains subject to the normal pre-employment checks. The current acting arrangement by the Corporate Governance Heads of Service will remain until Mrs Scott's start date is confirmed.
