A team of four P6 pupils from St Peter's RC School in Aberdeen has won the local heat of a Scotland-wide quiz on Europe organised by the award-winning Scottish European Educational Trust.
The winning team from Aberdeen will now compete against 30 other local authority teams in the national final in May 2013 at the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh.
As well as questions covering history, geography, sport, culture, and the EU, this year's Euroquiz includes a language round where pupils can test their knowledge of French, German, Spanish or Italian.
Aberdeen City Council's Convener of Education, Culture and Sport Committee Councillor Jenny Laing said: "Many congratulations to the pupils of St Peter's School for winning the Aberdeen heat of the EuroQuiz. I wish them all the very best of good luck when they compete in the final at the Scottish Parliament in May."
Jo Martin, headteacher, St Peter's RC School, said: "The children have enjoyed learning about the history, lifestyle and culture of the countries of the European Union and they are really looking forward to the trip to Edinburgh to challenge themselves further.
"They have had great support from their teacher, Ruth McFarlane, their classmates and their families and they have put in a lot of their own time to commit facts to memory. We are all proud of their efforts and teamwork."
Teams from twelve schools took part in the Aberdeen heat at Woodside School on Tuesday 05 March.
