Third Don Crossing to be built separately from AWPR

06/03/13

The Third Don Crossing and the A96/Dyce Drive link road are to be built as stand alone projects, separately from the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route.

Aberdeen City Council agreed that construction of the new bridge, and the A96 Park and Choose/Dyce Drive link road should progress on a "works only" approach, which should reduce the cost of both. The Council has allocated £15.36million capital funding for the Third Don Crossing and £15.2million for the link road.

A report considered by councillors states that the Third Don Crossing could be substantially completed and open to the public by autumn 2015 if it progresses on the "works only" approach, compared to 2016-2018 if constructed as part of the AWPR. The Dyce Drive link road could be open in late 2015.
