Launch of Third Don Crossing information sessions

The first in a series of public information sessions about the Third Don Crossing takes place this afternoon.

Ian Taylor, Aberdeen City Council resident Engineer at the Tillydrone information session. The drop-in sessions, arranged to keep the public informed about works associated with the construction of the new road and bridge, will take place every Friday in Tillydrone Community Centre from 2pm until 3.30pm.

Council officers and representatives of contractor Balfour Beatty will be on hand to answer questions the public may have about the scheme, as well as construction works and mitigation measures, as it progresses.

Daily drop-in sessions have also been arranged in Tillydrone Library, where a member of site staff will be available for an hour a day to discuss any concerns.

The drop-in sessions will take place as follows: Monday 10am-11am; Tuesday 1pm-2pm; Wednesday 2pm-3pm; and Thursday 10am-11am.

The Third Don Crossing will see the construction of a new single carriageway link road between the Parkway/Whitestripes Road junction and the Tillydrone Avenue/St Machar Drive junctions, including the construction of the new bridge.

Balfour Beatty has been appointed to construct the new bridge over the River Don, a new stretch of road linking it to the road network north of the Don, and realign and upgrade roads to the south of the river. The new bridge is due to be substantially completed and open to the public by late 2015.
