Mugiemoss Road to re-open
A section of Mugiemoss Road, which has been closed for five months while essential work was carried out for a new housing development, will re-open ahead of the morning rush hour traffic on Monday 18 August.
Contractors for Barratt Homes have effectively created a new road on the old road including a new sewer, water and gas pipes, electricity, street lighting and communications cables, as well as building a new footway.
The road was closed between properties numbered 73 Mugiemoss Road and 230 Mugiemoss Road, during the course of the works, which began on 16 March.
Aberdeen City Council, as roads authority, worked with the developer Barratt Homes to minimise the impact of the private works, thus ensuring they were completed as quickly as possible. This included taking steps to make certain that all companies involved worked at the same time and, in doing so, reduced the period of the closure.
Aberdeen City Council leader Jenny Laing said: "By working in partnership with Barratt Homes these private works have been completed in five months. This is due to the coordinated effort by all involved to minimise the disruption to road users.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank the public for their patience and understanding while these essential works were carried out."
