Cove Road to close during water works for housing development
04/03/13
A series of road closures will be in place on Cove Road in the coming weeks during works to install a water main and foul water pumping main for a new housing development at Cairnrobin.
Some delays are likely and the travelling public is advised to use an alternative route or allow extra time for their journey. Bus services will be affected by the closure, but a shuttle bus will be running to ferry passengers between the affected stops.
The work will be carried out in five phases, and began with the partial closure of Cove Road on Saturday between Charleston Road and Cairnbeg Road. This section will remain closed for up to five weeks while the foul water pumping main is inserted along the centre of the carriageway. The work is weather dependent.
An alternative route is available via the C8K Wellington Road, A956 Wellington Road, Langdykes Road and Earnsheugh Road, or vice versa.
The second stage of the five-phase project will see the north side of the carriageway reopened, while work continues on the south side carriageway. Temporary traffic lights will be in operation during this part of the project and will control the flow of traffic in both directions. It is anticipated that phase two will take approximately two weeks to complete.
Details about phases three, four and five, which will be carried out following completion of phase two, will be made available in due course.
