AWPR tendering opportunities to be highlighted
Updates on tendering opportunities for works and services to be delivered in advance of construction works beginning on the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route/Balmedie-Tipperty in autumn 2014 will be given at a procurement event in Aberdeen on Tuesday, 17 September.
The event, which takes place from 12.15-1.45pm in the Town House, will be led by members of Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire councils' shared service, the Central Procurement Unit.
The route is a major infrastructure project for the North-east of Scotland. It involves two trunk road schemes the 46km dual two-lane AWPR and the 12km dual two-lane A90 Balmedie-Tipperty improvement scheme which have been combined for procurement as a single trunk road scheme for completion in spring 2018.
AWPR assistant managing agent Alun Williams will give an overview and update on the project, and highlight some upcoming tendering opportunities. He will be joined by Central Procurement Unit category manager Tracey Boylan for a question and answer session.
Aberdeen City Council is the Managing Agent of The Scottish Ministers and, in partnership with Transport Scotland and Aberdeenshire Council, is responsible for the provision of all services in connection with the procurement, preparation, and construction of the roads.
Aberdeen City Council is actively engaged in the public procurement and contract management of a significant programme of preparatory works and services. Contracts let to date have included site preparation, demolition, ecological mitigation works, and archaeological and supplementary ground investigations, with additional new contracts due to be let during the course of 2014.
