The Leaping Leopards Creche

Is a facility that looks after babies and young children for up to 3 hours at a time.  Play, have fun, make new friends in a safe, friendly, caring environment.

Leaping Leopards is now also operating at:

Engage in activities of your choice. Sport (preferential rates for Sports Activities/Shopping/Medical/ Social. You are free to leave the centres. Please ensure a registration form is filled for your child on every occasion with personal details, name of doctor, allergies and emergency contact details.

Parents can leave their child at the Crèche for up to 2 hours while participating in sporting activities or up to 3 hours for  external activities of choice *depending on the Centres Opening times.
*Shopping, medical appointments, learning & gaining employment skills or to simply have a break.

Preferential rates for children whose parents are participating in sports activities at the sports Centres.

Crèche Aims &  Objectives

Leaping Leopards City Wide Crèche Servies aims to provide affordable, accessible and quality childcare which supports community engagement and participation in the civic life of the city.

Leaping Leopards City Wide Crèche Services are continually developing and improving the services offered to meet the wide and diverse needs of the community.

It offers parents and carer

  • Up to 3 hours child-free time to attend council meetings, participate in cultural activities, appointments, shopping, driving lessons, job interviews, classes or simply have a break.
  • The reassurance of knowing your children are being looked after by trained, experienced and child-centred staff

All the Creche staff are very experienced in making children feel welcome, secure and included.  They want every child to enjoy their time at the Creche and get the full benefit of the activities on offer.  Your child will be treated as an individual and helped to develop their skills and talents at their own space.

Bookings

  • FOR CRECHES BASED AT SPORTS CENTRES ONLY.  Advanced bookings may be made by telephone or in person at the reception area of the facility: Non-members –non sports users 2 days in advance, sports users  3 days in advance, holders of priority booking pass or ACE Club membership - 6 days in advance (membership number must be provided at time of booking) N.b You may only book places for children in your care. 
  • Only children aged from birth  to  8 years may be admitted to the Creche. The maximum stay is 2 hours for sports users and 3 hours for non sports users depending on centre opening times and availability.
  • Places in the Creche are limited so any cancellations must be notified to the facility as soon as possible.
  • A waiting/cancellation  list is in operation at each venue, if the crèche is fully booked you will be contacted if a space becomes free if you supply your contact details to staff.

Staff Appointment, Ratios & Training

Prior to appointment. All staff are Disclosure Scotland checked at enhanced level . Aberdeen City Council's safer recruitment practices and guidelines are adhered to.

The ratio between staff member and child is dependant on the numbers and ages of children and is maintained at the levels approved by the Card Commission which are:

  • 0-2 years 1:3
  • 2-3 years 1:5
  • 3-5 years 1:8
  • 5+ years 1:10

All permanent staff are trained in:

  • working towards Childcare Learning and Development SVQ Level 2 or Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Child Protection
  • REHIS Food Hygiene
  • First Aid
  • Manual handling
  • Infection Control
  • Appropriate training to comply with the Strategy for Transforming Services to Children & Young People.

Consent & Confidentiality

All information held will follow strict Council guidelines on Consent & Confidentiality. Parents and Carers must agree to our terms & Conditions which are displayed at all centres.  The signing of the registration forms indicates compliance with these terms and conditions.

Complaints

Customers have the right to complain about any aspect of the Creche service and should initially contact the Crèche staff on site. Should the Crèche Staff  be unable to resolve the compliant  please contact the City Wide Crèche Services Manager Tel 01224 632955. With details of the complaint.

All complaints will be acknowledged within 5 days and responded to within 15 days.

Customers also have the right to complain directly to the registration/Inspection body The Care Commission, North Region, Johnstone House, Rose Street, Aberdeen AB10 1UD.
